 "SERRICO" history

Dr. Tatsuji Chuman, Dr. Kenji Mori (Emeritus Professor, The University of Tokyo), Dr. Mikio Ono and others contributed to research and development of "SERRICO" and "New SERRICO®"

1979 Dr. Tatsuji Chuman and others (Japan Tobacco & Salt Public Corporation?E?former name of JT) identified structure of sex pheromone for tobacco beetle, SERRICORNIN, and synthesized it.
1981 Application for patent, "Sex pheromone lure" composed with 4,6-dimethyl-7-keto-nonan-3-ol and the compound concerned.
Introduction of pheromone trap for monitoring tobacco beetle, "SERRICO" into the market.
(This is the first commercial product as monitoring pheromone trap.)
Success of synthesizing 8 stereo-isomers on SERRICORNIN and clarification on their structure-activity relationships by collaboration of Dr. Kenji Mori (Tokyo University Faculty of Agriculture).
1984 Dr. Chuman received "Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry Award for the Encouragement of Young Scientists ".-[Chemical studies on sex pheromone for tobacco beetle, Serricornin]
1986 The above mentioned patent was obtained.
New SERRICO was launched. New SERRICO is an accomplishment combining the highly activated SERRICORNIN based on the research of the 8 stereo-isomers and their activities, and the gradual volatility technique by Dr. Mikio Ono and others (Fuji Flavor Co., LTD.) .
1994 Dr. Ono and others received "Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry Award for Achievement in Technological Research"-[Development trap using pheromone]-
At present New SERRICO enjoys the status of the global standard pheromone trap not only in the tobacco industry, but also in the food industry.
